Deer Valley Apartments was the only large-scale apartment community built in slow-growth Marin County in the 1990's. After another developer lost its option to acquire this parcel, the principals of Thompson|Dorfman redesigned and re-entitled the project in 1995 and began construction, which was completed in 1996. A result of nearly 6 years of planning and entitlement, this 171-unit community is situated in a former quarry and features a combination of townhome and traditional units. It was capitalized though a joint venture with a major pension fund advisor.
